South Coast Speed and Sound

SCSS  has been open now for two years and has some amazing work running around the streets and taking home trophies at shows. This shop lives up to its name. The own Abo Gulkarov has been customizing vehicles for 12 years and describes his shop as a high-end one stop audio and video shop. Abo drives a ‘04 Pontiac GTO. This car rides on 18” HP Design rims with Toyo Proxes T 1 S tires. It has a custom NOS system with 125 shot with 15 lb bottle and custom purge kit. For only being open 2 years this shop has already made a name for it’s self in the So Cal area.

The work that comes out of this shop is very professional. In fact they do work for some of the local car and truck dealerships in the area They have done work for Hardin GMC, Hardin Honda, Ken Gordy Ford, and Galpin Ford just to name a few.

South Coast Speed and Sound was contacted last year by Eclipse Electronic to build the demo vehicle for the Eclipse booth at CES this January. It wasn’t at the shop the day I went to visit, but South Coast was nice enough to share some pictures of the magnum with us. From looking at it you would never know it was built in under a month.

Some of the goodies on the 05 Dodge Magnum is 20” Falken rims and tires, Full fiberglass audio/video system done all in Eclipse Electronics. You can hear this car coming with four Titanium 12” subs, two sub amps, three multi-channel amps, three 5 ¼ component speakers, two 6 ½ component speakers, four tweeters in a custom made dash pod, and three screens. You can read more and see more pictures on the shop website www.teamscss.com

The day I went to visit the shop they had two members from the truck club the shop sponsors, Robert and Rick from URR2SLO to show off what the shop can do. The ‘01 Chevy Silverado comes with a Magnuson Super charger, NOS, and fiberglass interior to name some of the work the shop has done to it. The ‘01 GMC Sierra has some of the same work done as well as custom gauge pod, full fiberglass dash with custom center console and full audio and video system by Directed Electronics.

Abo has a good crew helping him turn out these loud and fast rides. Phil Rush has been customizing for 19 years. Matt Van Lierop has been customizing for 8 years. Vladimir Gulkarov has been customizing for 3 years. Mark Rodriguez has 5 years of customizing experience. Stephanie Mai is the shop model.

This is a very customer friendly shop. They will stay open late if need be. They will also pick up and/or drop off rides (call shop for more information on this). They are honest about how long something is going to take. When a customer brings in a ride they listen to what the customer wants and finds the best parts they can to get the sound perfect for the customer.
